How we make our Comforters
Each of our comforters is custom made, so if you have an odd size, no problem! Our standard sizes are Crib (36x50), Twin (68x86), Double/Queen (90x90) and King (102x90), and each of these can be filled with your choice of weights in Organic Cotton or Pure Wool. Organic Cotton is a weighty material, in either summer weight (one layer of Hobbs cotton) or two layers of Hobbs for our Regular weight, you will feel the warmth. We recommend that our comforters be covered by a comforter cover (duvet) as washing is not recommended, so even a summer weight combined with a warm duvet will accommodate warmer climates all winter (here in Vermont, I use a cotton regular and the heaviest duvet I can find BBBRRRRR). The same thing goes for the wool comforters, they too are only spot washable, at most, and sun bleaching is highly advised. Wool comforters come in three weights, summer, regular and deluxe. Wool is a fluffy material that allows air to flow through it, so while it is a warm material, it is lighter on your body and the air dries moisture quickly so you are not clammy. A few additional properties that make wool so desirable are wool naturally contains lanolin, which makes it dust mite resistant, and wool is naturally flame resistant! When we sell a comforter and cover together we always put ties at the corners of the comforter and on the inside of the cover that way your comforter will stay where it belongs inside the duvet. We have been known to send a few extra ties along with a comforter now and then so that our customers can add that convenience to their existing duvet covers. The crib comforters can be gently washed only because we hand tie it many times, about 130 times actually (about every 4), and this helps hold the stuffing in place better after washings, as both cotton and wool will shrink (we do make these comforters larger to accommodate the shrinkage we believe will happen). Usually the crib comforter covers (duvet) will have an envelope opening at the end to keep the comforter inside, the adult sizes all use metal zippers for this, unless otherwise specified by you. Im sorry to say though, that we dont have the machinery to adequately apply buttons/holes. So give us a call if you want to discuss a specific size or idea, well be happy to help!
